Our story: celebrating Irish identify through music
TradFest Temple Bar is a joyful celebration of Irish identity through music. Each January, it showcases the best of established and emerging musical talent at a landmark festival which is rooted in the historic and atmospheric setting of Temple Bar, Dublin’s cultural quarter.
TradFest is reimagining and redefining Irish music and reaching growing Irish and international audiences at live events and through digital channels. It adopts a fluid approach to programming and is constantly curating the best of established Irish traditional and folk musicians with emerging performers, some of whom got their career breaks and opportunities to perform at international events through TradFest.
Leading cultural event
From modest beginnings in 2005, where small and often spontaneous sessions in pubs spilled out onto the cobbled streets of Temple Bar, TradFest has become a leading cultural event in Dublin. Audiences at its January festival grew by 50% in the five years to 2020 and more than a third who attend the gigs are overseas visitors.
TradFest has broadened its reach, not only within Ireland but globally through live streamed events, videos, podcasts and social media engagement. A global community has been created of people who are connected by their love of Irish music.
TradFest constantly evolves its programme and the channels it uses. The celebration of Irish identity is enhanced by the historic settings chosen, be they cathedrals, castles or traditional Irish pubs, and also by its increasingly global reach.
TradFest Temple Bar is not just a festival. It is not just trad. It is unique.
TradFest Temple Bar aims to share the joy of Irish music and culture globally, to constantly innovate in how it curates exceptional talent and to build a vibrant community across the world who revel in the music.
TradFest Temple Bar provides audiences with unique experiences to enjoy Irish music and culture in intimate and historical settings while giving talented musicians access and exposure to those audiences, locally and globally.
