‘New Selected Poems’ – Derek Mahon
‘New Selected Poems’ displays more than fifty years’ work by one of the greatest poets of our time. It includes already recognized masterpieces such as ‘A Disused Shed in Co. His poem ‘Everything Is Going to Be All Right’ was embraced by many people as one of the consoling touchstones of our pandemic.
His reading of it on YouTube has been watched almost forty-five thousand times and featured on Ireland’s national news.
Derek Mahon’s work melds the classical and utterly contemporary. ‘New Selected Poems’ is, quite simply, the work of a master.
Derek Mahon was born in Belfast in 1941. He died in Kinsale, Co. Cork on 2 October 2020.
